OUR TECHNOLOGY - Digital X-Rays
Digital x-rays are one of the ways that technology has revolutionized dental procedures over the past ten years. You might be familiar with the traditional dental x-ray – the dentists at Barrington Dental Care™ will cover the patient with a heavy apron, put the film in the patient’s mouth, and then leave the room to take the picture. This traditional way of doing X rays utilized radiation to take the pictures, which while not dangerous to the patient inherently, can be dangerous to humans if they are exposed to it for a long period of time.
In contrast, digital x-rays take the radiation out of the equation and replace it with the very best of modern technology. A digital x-ray takes the traditional picture and digitalizes it, so not only is there no radiation involved, but there is no development time required to get the pictures. In the past, taking traditional x-rays required the negatives to be developed using harmful chemicals and a long waiting process.
With digital x-rays, your pictures will appear on a screen the moment that the picture is taken. Digital x-rays are also clearer than the traditional radiation shots, which makes them easier for the dentist to decipher and much more clear for the patient to understand. With digital x-rays, the time between taking the picture and seeing it on the screen is instantaneous, and the results are unparalleled.
