OUR TECHNOLOGY - Chairside Monitors
Chairside Monitors are used in conjunction with intraoral cameras in order to provide both you and the dentists at Barrington Dental Care™™ the means to properly regulate your oral health. The process of using a chairside monitor is as such: Dr. Todd or Dr. Ron will hook up the intraoral camera to the monitor, and then the intraoral camera will be covered with a disposable plastic sheath to protect your hygiene. Once this is done, the chair side monitor will be turned on and the intraoral camera will be inserted into your mouth, so both you and the dentist can see your lips, teeth, and gums.
Chairside monitors and intraoral cameras are not designed to completely replace the art of the dentist simply inspecting the inside of your mouth with eyes and fingers. The chairside monitor merely helps get a clearer picture of places in your mouth that might be difficult for the dentist to see. Even with lights and mirrors, there are some parts of the mouth that require a lot of inspecting if the method chosen is manual. Chairside monitors and intraoral cameras help save time and effort on the part of the dentist.
In addition to the assistance that chairside monitors and intraoral cameras give dentists and assistants, it also helps the patient to get a clearer picture of what is going on in their mouths – in the most literal sense of the word. Dentists have found that it is more helpful to patients if they can actually see any potential trouble spots before they develop alongside the traditional aural consultation at the end of any dentist appointment.
Chairside monitors and intraoral cameras are among the many ways that new technology helps us serve our patients and dentists better, and assist everybody on the road to good oral hygiene.
